Adoptions – It’s how we can better serve our students via the Library Reserve, Disability Resources Department, and your SRJC Bookstores.
When you submit your adoptions for both books and supplies it helps various campus departments prepare for the upcoming semester to better serve our students. The Library Reserve procures titles that they know students will be using and needing next term. The Disability Resources Department is able to research the various learning formats for their students’ needs, providing equal access, accommodations, and educational assistance. The SRJC Bookstore posts the various pricing options on their website so that students can do their research and shop around early with the correct information. Adoptions for both books and supplies is not about your Bookstore ordering books – it is you helping these various campus departments prepare in advance to help our students.
Saving Options For Students – How You Can Make A Difference
Open Education Resources (OER) and Zero Textbook Costs (ZTC)
Open Education Resources and Zero Textbook Costs are teaching, learning and research materials within the public domain, released under an open license, allowing faculty and institutions for no-cost access, use, and redistribution without restrictions. These resources provide alternatives to traditional textbooks and can be customized to fit instructional goals. Creative Commons License Options is also another option that enable the use of course content that would normally have copyright restrictions. Using OER and ZTC materials will provide students with affordable learning solutions over traditional textbooks.

Inclusive Access – Affordable Course Materials For All
The Follett ACCESS program delivers required course materials to students when they register for any of the courses listed and the cost will be included as part of tuition or course fees so there are no surprises about costs after enrollment. Students can save up to 80% resulting from Follett’s deep relationships with publishing partners and bulk purchasing power. The program also reduces student stress during the purchasing process and provides a method to easily access, manage and use all course materials regardless of format or cost. Faculty can start teaching on day one without having to wait for students to acquire their materials. The savings of up to 80% compared to full-retail price provides equitable accessibility to affordable materials for all students.

Buyback – Student Sell Their Books Back For Cash
Your SRJC Bookstores’ valuable year-round service allows students to sell their unwanted used or new books for cash. This service helps lower the overall cost of course materials for students. Your adoptions allow us to identify which titles we can buy back at a higher price. We will buy books back from students regardless of where they bought the book from – and your adoption allows us to buy them for more!
Students can sell their books in person or online. We buy books back year-round, but the best time is during Finals Week when we have received faculty adoptions. Once we have confirmed we received your adoptions, let your students know to sell their books back to your SRJC Bookstores!
Submit Your Faculty Author Book Title or Recommendation
Your SRJC Bookstore is working on updating its general trade book section to include book titles written by our faculty members or book recommendations that the campus community feel would be of value to our students and community. If you would like to submit a book title to be made available at your SRJC Bookstore, please email Andre Jimenez at ajimenez2@santarosa.edu with the book title and ISBN number.
